I cannot look at an herb and accept only its name.
I want to know where it grows, how people recognized it, what it was traditionally used for and which stories, symbols and beliefs became attached to it. I want to understand how people prepared it, preserved it and passed their knowledge from one generation to the next.
That curiosity is what grows here.
Herbal Wisdom is where I take a closer look at individual herbs and the many layers of knowledge surrounding them. I explore plant identification, traditional preparations, historical uses, botanical folklore, cultural associations and modern research when reliable information is available.
I am still learning, comparing sources and adding notes to my own herbal binders. This is not about claiming that plants can replace qualified medical care. It is about respectfully studying the relationships people have built with plants throughout history, and learning how to approach them with curiosity, care and discernment.
